Elyse Knox, who was the mother of actor Mark Harmon, is seen here pondering a strip of negatives on the set of the Bud Abbott/Lou Costello comedy Hit the Ice, in which she had a major role. Abbott and Costello don’t fall within our pulp remit, so we won’t be watching that—at least not to write about—but we love this shot of Knox. Several of her movies are promisingly titled. Free, Blonde and 21 sounds like a possibility for watching, as does Girl in 313. And of course there’s The Mummy’s Tomb, which we actually saw a while back. We’ll check out one of her others down the line. This shot is from 1943.
