Above is another great Technicolor pin-up, this one from 1952 and entitled simply The Parasol. From the model’s lacy fingerless opera gloves to her hair and red lips this is an amazing lithograph, and really it feels much newer than sixty-one(!) years old, but there’s a stamp in the lower lefthand corner—CORP. A. Fox 1952—leaving no doubt about its age. It’s a bit mindblowing. The model would probably be about eighty years old now, or dead. Best not to think about that, though. Getting back to the actual art, there was clearly a substantial amount of retouching done to the original photo, and the Technicolor process helps make it more of a painting in the end, but still, this shows what Technicolor was all about.
