We ran across this great item from No Exit Press and author Max Décharné. Décharné has collected thousands of slang expressions from pulp literature, film noir, sexploitation flicks, and song lyrics to create a must-have compendium of vintage slang. The No Exit site contains an amusing sampling of representative expressions, but we won’t repeat any except to say that when we learned yesteryear’s hipsters once referred to black coffee as “java nix on the moo juice”, we immediately dug out our credit card and pre-ordered the book.
Update: No Exit has released a bigger, more comprehensive edition with even nicer cover art.
