This uncredited cover for Al Chambry’s 1957 novel Tutto da capo was published by Edizioni Boselli as part of its I Libri del Gatto che sa! collection. That means, “the books of the cat that knows.” All we know is that this is one cool cat logo.
The scans came from a blog that’s been idle for a dozen years now called Giallo Book Covers. When active it was one of the best spots online to see rare pulp art. When we revisit it—and sites like it that have also gone idle—it brings home how long we’ve been at this. We started in our Peter Pan-ish late youth and have reached a solid (still Peter Pan-ish) middle age. During that time our website has reached adulthood, as today it begins its eighteenth year. It can drink legally in Europe—and have a Halloween hangover like we have today.
Obviously the longevity of Pulp Intl. is a function of several factors: free time, purchasing budget, website hosting budget (so we aren’t at the mercies of aggregation sites that suddenly decide they hate nudity—ahem Tumblr), understanding girlfriends, and health (a few diggers have died since we started, and PSGP almost did too after Mexico and brain surgery). Well, we’re hoping to be around for a while yet. In the meantime, Giallo Book Covers, even idle, remains a good spot for pulp fans to visit.
