Its purpose was to protect stewardesses’ hair from jet wash and rain back in the days when they had to cross the tarmac to board planes. This is a fairly common image on the web, but when we saw it we realized we’d stumbled across another shot of the bubble helmet and unknowingly posted it in our feature on Hayat magazine back in July.
