Above: a Soviet information pamphlet entitled The Effects of Nuclear Weapons, published April 1962, which takes pains to reiterate the Soviet Union’s non-first-usage doctrine. The booklet also discusses not just the effects of nukes, but also the side effects, such as cottonmouth, vomiting, incontinence, glowing eyes, and an unquenchable hunger for human flesh. Truly a must-read.
