THIS IS YORU LIFE
Satoko Sato gets into another tight spot.

Above are a couple of beautiful rarities, colorful promos for the Japanese pinku flick Yoru no saizensen: Onna gari, known in English as Frontline of the Night - Women Hunting. It stars Satoko Sato, Kôji Wada, and Tatsuya Fuji in the tale of a man who spends four years in prison for assaulting a Yakuza, but returns to battle them upon his release. The movie is probably most remembered for a comedic seduction bit involving a woman dressed as Che Guevara, beard and all, and the scenes of Sato in a brass chastity belt. It was not the only time she wore a bizarre bondage get-up. She did it in the sequel Yoru no saizensen: Tôkyô onna chizu. Check the visuals here. As interesting as this film sounds, we had no luck tracking it down. But we wanted you to see these nice pieces of art anyway. Yoru no saizensen: Onna gari premiered in Japan today in 1969.

ZONED OUT
She’s dreaming of the day when she gets to change out of that ridiculously uncomfortable outfit.

Above, an alternate promo for Yoru no saizensen: Tôkyô onna chizu, aka Secret Zone of Tokyo. This one is nice, but the previous version is one of the coolest Japanese posters we’ve seen.

DIRECTIONALLY CHALLENGED
In a big city like Tokyo you definitely need a map to find your way around.

We love this. It’s a poster for Nikkatsu’s 1969 sexploitation flick Yoru no saizensen: Tôkyô onna chizu, which starred Satoko Sato and her interesting leather outfit, and was released internationally as Secret Zone of Tokyo. But that isn’t a literal translation of the Japanese title. If you glance at the bottom of the poster, the first two figures, if you’re looking left to right, say “Tokyo.” The red shape with the heart in the middle is a nifty mash-up of the two figures that make up the word “women.” And the last two figures say “map” or possibly “atlas.” So it says, “Tokyo Women Map.” Which is something we really could have used at times in the past. Yoru no saizensen: Tôkyô onna chizu premiered in Japan today in 1969.
