Above: Carol Gaye’s Let’s Get Married, published as a White Circle Pocket Edition by HarperCollins in 1948. These were Canadian reprints of already successful novels, and Gaye was a veteran romance author who from 1933 onward churned out scores of books that sold quite well. We didn’t read this but we love that the main character here is named Patience. The banner text says: It happened in a train. What happened? Maybe Patience got tired of waiting.
