Here’s another photo from the USC film archive, a shot of seven elephants crossing Olive Street in Los Angeles in 1953. The elephants were part of the Cole Brothers Circus, and were being paraded through downtown L.A. as a publicity stunt. Cole Brothers still exists today, but their elephant act—and those of other circuses—is under heavy criticism by animal rights activists due to numerous documented instances of animal cruelty.
Guys, if this human hits any of us with that stick one more time, I vote we step on his head.
