Girl with an Itch is a pretty simple b-picture in which Kathy Marlowe hitchhikes her way to a California orchard, ostensibly for work, but really to find a man to hustle out of his money. She lands on the ranch of a lonely sixty-something widower and puts the gold digger moves on him, but is really more interested in his son Robert Clarke. The problem is Clarke is wary of Marlowe and might ruin her moneymaking scheme. But he probably needn’t be worried. Marlowe can’t keep her dick in her pants, so she’s liable to ruin her own scheme given enough time. We don’t mind this retread of the heartless vamp stereotype—hell it’s what our website is all about—but we do mind the unoriginal approach and cringingly bad acting. Seriously—you’ll squirm watching Robert Clarke try to put over a tearful drunken rant. Girl with an Itch is for femme fatale completists only, we’d say. It premiered in the U.S. today in 1958.
