Here’s a very interesting auction site find, a cover for El caso de la joven arisca, which is a 1962 translation put out by Spanish publishers Editorial Molino of Erle Stanley Gardner’s 1933 novel The Case of the Sulky Girl. This is a nice cover with its screenlike pattern in the foreground, and we also like how the femme fatale is detailed while the man behind the camera is a mere sketch. The cover is another example of how aesthetics vary by country, and how numerous non-U.S. publishers, rather than producing strictly pulp style or GGA art, often sought to approach it from new perspectives. Superb work here.
