In a bizarre story out of Adelaide, Australia, a woman who set fire to her husband’s genitals has officially been charged with his murder. Forty-seven year old Satish Narayan was burned over 90 percent of his body in the blaze, which occurred at the couple’s home on December 8. Mr. Narayan later died in Royal Adelaide Hospital, and his wife Rajini Narayan now faces charges of murder, arson, and endangerment to the lives of the couple’s three children, who were home when she set the fire.
Mr. Narayan was allegedly asleep on the night of December 8 when his wife doused his genitals with methylated spirit—a flammable liquid—and set them alight. Mr. Narayan awoke and leapt from bed, upsetting the bottle of liquid and spreading the fire to the rest of his body and the bedroom. The blaze raged out of control and caused more than $1 million in damage to the Narayan home and a property next door. Mrs. Narayan, who may have suspected her husband of infidelity, claimed she didn’t intend to kill him, just teach him a lesson. “I’m a jealous wife,” she said. “I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else.”
